city, just 18 miles (29 kilometers) south of Tokyo.
and is Japan's second largest city. It is home to many
cultural sites you'll want to visit while you're here. In addition,
several popular sites are an easy half-day or day-trip from

No visit to Yokohama would be complete without allowing time for some sightseeing. ISSCR has selected JTB as the official housing and tour company. JTB has developed pre- and post- tour options that allow you to not only experience the science of the ISSCR meeting, but also experience the culture of Japan.

CupNoodles Museum – within walking distance from the Pacifico Yokohama (convention center), this recently opened, fun museum follows the history of instant noodles with interactive exhibits, modern art and hands on experiences. For a small fee visitors can design their own cup noodles or make instant ramen noodles from scratch (reservations required). There is also a food court that serves noodle dishes from around the world.
Yokohama Port Museum – of special interest to maritime buffs.
Yokohama Museum of Art – one of the most important things to see in the area.
Yokohama Cosmo World Amusement Park – featuring one of the largest Ferris wheels in the world.
Silk Museum – a tribute to the importance silk has played in Yokohama history.
Chukagai – Japan's largest Chinatown, with hundreds of souvenir shops and restaurants.
Sankeien Garden – this lovely park contains more than a dozen historic buildings that were brought here from other parts of Japan, including Kyoto and Nara, all situated around streams and ponds and surrounded by Japanese-style landscape gardens.
Yokohama Hakkeijima Sea Paradise – a combination seaside amusement park and aquarium, great for kids.
