Election Process

The ISSCR Board of Directors consists of 21 people, and includes the president, president elect, vice president, past president, clerk and treasurer. Nominations for the Board of Directors are made by ISSCR members in November/December and candidates are slated with an emphasis on scientific authority and to keep the overall international diversity of the board.

Votes are held the following February/March to:

• Elect a vice president
• Endorse the appointment of slated board members to the positions of clerk and treasurer (if open)
• Endorse the appointment and reappointment of slated nominees to the board of directors

The new officers and directors begin their term following the ISSCR Annual Meeting.

Term of appointment
The term of appointment begins following the Annual Meeting. For example, the 2007 term started after the 5th ISSCR Annual Meeting in June 2007 and runs through the 6th ISSCR Annual Meeting in June 2008. Each member of the Board of Directors serves 3 years after which they may be nominated for reelection.

Election of Vice President
The elected candidate will serve as vice president for one year, then will go on to become the president elect the following year and, in the third year, be president of the ISSCR. The candidate will serve an additional year as past president. For example, the candidate elected in 2008 as vice president will take on the presidency following the 8th Annual Meeting in 2010 and hold this position until the end of the 8th Annual Meeting in 2011.

Current Status of Election Process
The call for nominations for positions on the Board of Directors for the term beginning in June 2008 closed on December 4, 2007. The 2008 elections opened on February 14, 2008 and closed on March 13, 2008, 3:00 p.m. CDT, USA. Results of the 2008 election are now available. Learn more.

2008 Elections
The 2008 elections were held to establish positions on the ISSCR Board of Directors and to ratify a proposed bylaw amendment. The elections closed on March 13, 2008.
