Based on responses to questions about your work and job functions, your membership category will be assigned.

2. Provide endorsements or certifications*
Please have the name and email address of a current ISSCR member or training director (supervisor, coordinator, or advisor).

New applicants must be endorsed by an existing member or certify their status as a student or fellow. If you do not know an existing member, you may choose to have the membership committee review your application.

*Waived for most returning members who paid dues within the last 5 years. Trainee members must be re-certified each year after 5 years from program begin date.

Membership Categories

Full Member ($160)
Any person with a doctoral degree or its equivalent who has manifested a continuous interest in any discipline important to stem cell research as evidenced by work in the field, original contributions, and attendance at meetings concerning stem cell research. Individuals who lack a doctorate but have exceptional qualifications are also eligible.

Trainee Member ($80)
Postdoctoral fellows, graduate and undergraduate students in stem cell research programs.

Emeritus Member ($80)
Any member who has retired from active research or training and has been a member for at least five years may request transfer to the status of Emeritus Member by written application. For more information, please email

Affiliate Member ($160)
Individual representatives of industry and others with an interest in stem cell research who do not qualify under Full or Trainee Member requirements.

About ISSCR Membership & Dues

ISSCR Membership runs each calendar year 1 January through 31 December. Dues are not prorated; however, dues received between 1 July and 30 September are at half price when combined with the following year's dues; and dues received after 1 October will be applied to the following calendar year. Three-year dues grant a 5% reduction in dues for years two and three.

Membership dues are for individuals only. Dues are payable in U.S. Dollars (USD) by credit card, check, or wire transfer. Membership dues are non-refundable and non-transferrable.
