ISSCR Abstract Submission - Frequently Asked Questions

  1. Do I have to be an ISSCR or SCSS member to submit an abstract?
  2. No, but all meeting participants are encouraged to apply for membership in the societies. SCSS is the only local stem cell society in Singapore dedicated to the advancement of stem cell research and clinical applications. Learn more or apply for an SCSS membership .  ISSCR membership is open to stem cell investigators in all environments including universities, medical schools, government agencies, for-profit and not-for-profit research laboratories and industries worldwide.   3. Is there an abstract submission fee?
  4. Yes, there is a $30.00 USD non-refundable charge to submit an abstract.

  5. Do I need to register for the meeting to present my abstract?
  6. Yes, all presenters must also register for the meeting at the appropriate rate. Submission of an abstract does not constitute registration for the meeting. You can wait to register until you hear if your abstract is accepted, but you must register in order to present.

  7. What presentation formats are available?
  8. There are a small number of abstract selected oral presentations available; all submissions will be considered for an oral presentation and are subject to review for scientific content. All submissions adhering to the Abstract Submission Agreement will be offered an oral or poster presentation. Please also read the Call for Abstracts for more information.

  9. How long can an abstract be?
  10. Abstracts submitted for the “Global Controls in Stem Cells” Regional Forum cannot exceed 2,000 characters (not including spaces).

  11. When will I know if my abstract was chosen for an oral presentation or when my poster presentation is scheduled?
  12. Presenting authors will receive an email notification of their abstract placement, in mid-September. Note: Correspondence and notifications regarding your abstract come from  or from domain  Please confirm with your email service provider that these are not blocked or filtered.

  13. May I withdraw my abstract after the submission deadline?
  14. Yes, however, the submission fee will not be refunded. Abstracts withdrawn before October 1, 2014 will be excluded from print program materials.

  15. Where and when will my abstract (if accepted) be published?
  16. The ISSCR and SCSS may publish the titles and authors of accepted abstracts in electronic and/or print formats before the meeting. Abstracts accepted for oral and poster presentation will be printed in the meeting final program book and made available to meeting attendees. Following the meeting, these materials may be made publicly available.

  17. What is the size of the posters?
  18. Poster boards are 1m wide x 2.25m high.  Posters must be smaller than the size of the poster board space. The recommended poster size is 0.9m (36 inches) wide x 1.5m (59 inches) high. Note that posters are in Portrait format.

    Velcro tape for sticking your posters to the board will be provided.
