Abstract Submission Rules and Policies

SUBMISSION AGREEMENT
Abstracts are considered official communications to the conference. Violation of the policies will result in the withdrawal of the involved abstract from any ISSCR presentation. All authors and co-authors must comply with the following regulations:

1. Not Published Elsewhere
Abstracts must be based on results that have not or will not have been published in any journal nationally or internationally, wholly or in part, before submission to ISSCR 2008.

2. Abstract Embargo Policy

ISSCR will publish the titles and authors of accepted abstracts in electronic and/or print formats before the meeting. Information contained in the abstracts will be available to meeting registrants approximately one month before the meeting. Complete abstracts will be published in the meeting final program.

3. Conflict of Interest and Support Disclosure

ISSCR requires presenters to disclose any sources of commercial support and whether they will be discussing any off-label uses of drugs. This information will be shared with attendees.

4. Identical Policy
Presentation material presented at the meeting must be substantively identical to that described in the abstract. In particular, the title, authorship, and scientific content of the presentation at the meeting must match that in the abstract.

5. Presentation Limits
An individual may appear as the first (presenting) author on only one accepted oral abstract. The first author should present the work at the meeting. No presentation may be given by an individual who is not an author on the abstract.

6. Author Consent

Authors may not be listed on an abstract unless they have given their consent to the presenting author.

7. Citations
To ensure proper citation in the author index, style your name consistently on all abstracts on which you are an author.

8. Abstract Titling
In the title of the abstract the phrase “stem cell” should be preceded by the species involved, i.e. “Mouse Adult Stem Cells.”

9. Full Disclosure of Information
Transparency is vital for the open sharing of information. ISSCR requires the full disclosure of identities of genes, proteins, active agents etc. in your presentations, both oral and poster.

10. Policies and Principles
Work presented in abstracts must conform with applicable policies and principles for experimental procedures and responsible scientific communication. The primary author is responsible for ensuring that work presented in the abstract is in accord with applicable guidelines.

11. Presentation Agreement Remuneration
I understand that I will receive no remuneration from ISSCR for my participation other than that specified in writing by the Society.

12. Permission For Use of Name and Likeness
I hereby give the International Society for Stem Cell Research, its agents and representatives the right to use my name and likeness in promotional and other material published in relation to the meeting.

13. Permission for Publication of Material
I agree to grant the International Society for Stem Cell Research one-time copyright for publication of material I may provide for inclusion in the proceedings for the conference. The copyright consists of any and all rights allowed by the copyright laws of the United States and all foreign countries. I understand that the proceedings, including my contribution, will be made available in printed form to the attendees of the conference, members of ISSCR, and other interested parties pursuant to policies established by the ISSCR Board. I understand that ISSCR will hold the copyright for the proceedings and its contents. I understand that the copyright of the compilation of materials in the proceedings is not the same as the copyright of an individual item of material included in the proceedings. I understand that I am encouraged to include copyright notices as appropriate on all the materials I submit to ISSCR for publication. I understand that ISSCR takes no responsibility for registering my copyright and advises me to take all appropriate steps to do so. I authorize ISSCR to sell or otherwise distribute said proceedings to the membership and general public. In return, I understand that ISSCR grants me the right to reprint my contribution in any publication. I affirm that my contribution contains no matter that is defamatory or is otherwise unlawful or invades individual privacy, or infringes on any proprietary right or statutory copyright. I affirm that my contribution is original with me or that I have obtained permission at my own expense from the copyright holder for publication and will submit documentation, showing permission for use, to ISSCR at the time of submission of the materials to be distributed.

14. Permission for Recording of Presentation
I hereby give permission for the International Society for Stem Cell Research, its agents and representatives to make electronic recordings such as via audio CD of my presentation and grant ISSCR a nonexclusive, royalty-free license to distribute those electronic media, and to use the material they contain, including the printed materials I will provide, for any lawful purpose, including publication in a conference proceedings, sales to members and the general public, and/or distribution via the Internet.
