New Science Editor Looking to Establish ISSCR in Global Research Community

Northbrook, IL — The International Society for Stem Cell Research is pleased to announce the appointment of Heather Rooke, PhD as ISSCR Science Editor. Rooke will assist the ISSCR Board of Directors and staff in the management and production of the ISSCR Web site, PULSE Newsletter and to serve as the ISSCR representative for stem cell research within the global stem cell research community.

Rooke has a PhD in Molecular Medicine with four years postdoctoral experience; expertise in the fields of hematopoiesis and leukemogenesis, stem cell biology, transcription factor biology and signal transduction. Since 2000, Rooke has worked as a Postdoctoral Fellow at Children’s Hospital Boston in the Laboratory of Professor Stuart H. Orkin and prior attended the University of Auckland, Auckland New Zealand for her PhD, MSc and BSc. With a proven track record in the lab and as a member of the ISSCR Public Education Committee, ISSCR is certain Rooke will fast become the scientific voice of the Society.

The International Society for Stem Cell Research is an independent, nonprofit membership organization established to promote and foster the exchange and dissemination of information and ideas relating to stem cells, to encourage the general field of research involving stem cells and to promote professional and public education in all areas of stem cell research and application.
