As the director of policy, Kevin will be responsible for directing, planning and executing the society’s policy initiatives. This newly created position will allow the ISSCR and its members to be actively engaged in the shaping of stem cell-related public policy around the world. ISSCR President Sean Morrison emphasized the importance of this process by commenting, “Our goal is to improve human health worldwide through stem cell research. That can only occur if regulation is based on a sound understanding of the science and the remarkable opportunities before us."
Kevin joins the ISSCR with a long history of policy work on issues with national and international implications. After obtaining a Bachelor of Science degree in politics from The Catholic University of America, Washington, DC, Kevin began his policy career as a staffer in the U.S. Senate and later took the position of a Legislative Director in the U.S. House of Representatives. For the past 14 years, Kevin served as the Director of Public Policy for the American Society for Cell Biology. Among his many accomplishments was his work with ISSCR leadership and stem cell policy advocates to shape U.S. stem cell policy and protect human embryonic stem cell research.
