The MRC is a national organization that promotes research into all areas of medical and related science with the aims of improving the health and quality of life of the UK public and contributing to the wealth of the nation.
Grant Schemes
A range of funding programmes open to all UK higher education institutions, NHS Trusts, Health Authorities and General Practices and academic analogues. Generally, open only to UK institutions. Research Boards, each chaired by a Council member, represent the main divisions of our research portfolio. The MRC is made up of research funding boards organized by area of expertise. The boards hold their own budget and fund, review and manage scientific activity within their specialist area. Grants are submitted to a specific board.
Deadlines, approximately three times per year
Fellowships and Studentships
A range of fellowships are available to support both clinical and non-clinical scientists. The scheme operates on an annual calendar with one submission/year. Applicants may require a relevant connection to the UK.
