Thank you for your interest in attending the ISSCR 2020 Virtual Annual Meeting as media. Please follow these instructions to apply for complimentary media registration. As credential media, you will have access to all sessions live and on-demand through the duration of the meeting, 23-27 June 2020.
- Review the Media Credentialing Requirements to ensure you qualify
- Adhere to the Media & Communications Policies, which outline ISSCR’s rules on embargoes, interviews, and onsite guidelines
- Complete the Media Registration Application Form below

Media Requirements & Policies
Who is Eligible?
Complimentary meeting registration is available for accredited news media as approved by the ISSCR. Applicants should be covering stem cell research or a related field on a regular basis in an editorial capacity and not among those restricted below.
Restrictions
Complimentary media registration will NOT be granted to:
- Companies, organizations, or individuals producing publications, blogs, videos, and/or other electronic media intended for marketing, advertising, financial analysis, or public relations purposes.
- Companies, individuals, or organizations in the paid media space.
- Publishers.
Accepted Media Credentials
Please prepare to upload the relevant credentials to your Media Registration Form below.
Print and Broadcast Examples:
- Internationally accredited media pass or a business card issued by a recognized news organization.
- Recent bylined article or broadcast credit.
- Current publicly-available masthead or staff list from a recognized news organization.
Freelance Example:
Official letter of assignment from an accredited news organization.
Blogger Examples:
Submit a letter with blog URL, audience reach, and statement of purpose regarding attendance.
Note: Blogger must demonstrate previous unbiased coverage of the stem cell research field as well as a sizeable and/or significant public or professional following. Corporate-owned and/or sponsored blogs are not eligible, nor are those that accept payment in exchange for the review of products or services.
By submitting your application for complimentary media registration for ISSCR 2021 Virtual Annual Meeting you agree you will adhere to ISSCR’s embargo policy, virtual environment guidelines, and interview policies.
Embargo Policy
- Coverage of scientific data and results presented at the meeting, whether in plenary or concurrent sessions or in abstracts and poster presentations, is strictly prohibited until the start of each individual presentation. Coverage is defined to include all media channels: print, electronic (social media, blogs, posts), video, and audio.
- If a separate embargo is noted for a specific presentation(s), coverage is strictly prohibited until the date(s) and time(s) noted.
- Content that is pre-published online in advance of print publication remains subject to the ISSCR embargo policy unless the author(s) provide written consent to nullify the embargo.
- During press conferences, credentialed media may take photos, video and audio recordings, and use cellphones, but may not do so during the meeting, including on the poster and exhibit floor.
Virtual Meeting Media Guidelines
- All scientific sessions, educational sessions, oral and poster abstract sessions, and the exhibit and poster hall are open to the media.
- If participating in any chats associated with the meeting in any capacity, registered media must indicate that they are a member of the press, i.e. Jane Richards, USA Today, Can you share where you think this research is leading the field?
- Still photography, video and/or audio taping of the sessions, presentations, or posters is strictly prohibited.
- At least one week in advance, journalists who want to request broadcasting or taping interviews of non-restricted material at the meeting may contact the ISSCR (media@isscr.org) to discuss your request and necessary clearances.
- ISSCR reserves the right to engage professional photographers and/or audio/visual professionals to document the meeting for use in informational articles or future promotions of this organization’s activities.
Interview Policies
- All interviews must be coordinated through the ISSCR media office (media@isscr.org).
- Registered media are encouraged to request interviews with ISSCR leadership, speakers/presenters, and other participants at least one week in advance.
Attendee Communications
- Anyone attending the ISSCR 2021 Virtual Annual Meeting should be respectful of the research findings and data presented by recognizing that the information is not available to the public yet and thus cannot be shared. This pertains to all attendees, including exhibitors and the media. Members of the press must speak to any researcher or speaker if developing a story to be published.
- Promotion of products, organizations, or services, and distribution of study results are prohibited. Distribution of news releases from nonprofit organizations, such as universities, may be permitted in the Press Room on a case-by-case basis. Releases must pertain to research presented at the meeting. Nonprofit organizations should contact media@isscr.org for more information.
