ISSCR Congratulates George Q. Daley on Being Named Dean of Harvard Medical School

The ISSCR congratulates George Q. Daley, MD PhD, on his selection as the next dean of Harvard Medical School (HMS). Daley is a long-time member of the ISSCR leadership, having served in several capacities, including as president (2007-08) and chair of the inaugural guidelines task force (2005-06). He is currently a member of the ISSCR Board of Directors.

“George’s focused commitment to advancing science and research, and to tackling important ethical and policy considerations in the world of health and medicine, make him a superb choice for this post,” said ISSCR President Sally Temple. “His significant contributions to the field of stem cell research and regenerative medicine and to the leadership of this organization cannot be overstated,” she said.

Daley has been instrumental in the development of ISSCR’s international guidelines for stem cell research, and played a key role in 2006 and 2008 guidance as well as the 2016 Guidelines for Stem Cell Research and Clinical Translation released earlier this year.

“George’s collaborative approach with colleagues and peers and his tremendous leadership skills will be of great benefit to HMS,” said ISSCR CEO Nancy Witty. “He is also a wonderful friend to all of us in the stem cell community, and we wish him all the best in this new endeavor,” she said.
