The International Society for Stem Cell Research (ISSCR) welcomes Kym Kilbourne as Director of Media and Strategic Communications, leading public affairs, education, member engagement, and media relations programs.
“Our mission to promote excellence in stem cell science requires excellence in communications. It’s important to our members, our field, and the public,” said ISSCR COO Keith Alm. “We welcome Kym’s leadership and deep experience to our growing team.”
Kilbourne brings more than a decade of experience in the life sciences, most recently as the Director of Media & Communication for the Society for Neuroscience. There, Kilbourne led media relations and communications with a focus on public policy, scientific journals, and the annual meeting, as well as member and digital communications including social media and the organization’s website.
Previous roles for Kilbourne include Vice President of Patient Advocacy at Global Genes, where she led patient advocacy, policy advocacy, and educational programs for patients with rare diseases, and as a federal lobbyist for the biopharmaceutical industry, where she advocated for policies that improved access to orphan drugs and therapeutics.
Kilbourne earned her BA from the University of Maryland College Park in Government and Politics.
