ISSCR COVID-19 Stem Cell Community Resources
Updated 16 February, 2021
We need to stand together as a scientific community more than ever during this unprecedented time. We understand that this is a time of great uncertainty and that restrictions in place across the globe for physical distancing and travel will have long-lasting ramifications on institutions, labs, experiments, funding, publications, and careers. As a Society we are here to amplify your voice, provide you with valuable resources, and to be a place for the community to come together.
We have collected resources that may be helpful to you and your stem cell science colleagues. These include news and scientific resources about the coronavirus and COVID-19, volunteer opportunities, virtual courses and seminars, best practices for remote teaching, and professional development tools.
We invite you to share how you are adjusting to the ramp down of university research or changes in your company's operations, and how you remain engaged in the science and with your lab colleagues.
- Learn about the response of the global stem cell community to the COVID-19 pandemic. Read the results of our survey and see this commentary in Stem Cell Reports Survey Says: “COVID-19 Lockdown Hits Young Faculty and Clinical Trials.”
- To continue the conversation, the ISSCR has launched a new initiative to connect researchers using stem cells to understand SARS-CoV-2 infection and COVID-19 treatment. Calls are taking place weekly at 11 EDT on Thursdays. Interested ISSCR members should email Covid19@isscr.org to be added. See presenters at past and future meetings.
- We have started a Slack channel for ISSCR members using stem cells to address SARS-CoV-2 infection and COVID-19 treatment. Email Covid19@isscr.org to be added.
- Learn from Editor-in-Chief Martin Pera how your Society journal, Stem Cell Reports, is working with stem cell scientists to ensure that communication of new results and new concepts in the field continues.
- Share on social media using #ISSCRCovid19.
If you have suggestions for resources to add to the list below, if you would like to see another type of resource from the ISSCR, or if you would like to share anything else with us, please email us at Covid19@isscr.org so that we can bring this information to the entire community.

The ISSCR attempts to include timely, reliable, and accurate information from reputable sources, but it is the responsibility of the user to properly vet the information and make their own informed decisions regarding the materials below. Please share information that you find particularly helpful or informative or help us identify resources that are inaccurate or outdated so we can remove them.
