The ISSCR Announces AI & Digital Biology Symposium Poster Award Winners

Four early career scientists were recognized for their outstanding poster presentations at the AI & Digital Biology Symposium in Seattle, USA held 9-10 October.

  • Zejun Fan, KAUST (King Abdullah University of Science and Technology), Saudi Arabia.
Abstract: DEEPBLASTOID: A DEEP LEARNING-BASED HIGH-THROUGHPUT CLASSIFIER FOR HUMAN BLASTOIDS USING BRIGHTFIELD IMAGES WITH CONFIDENCE ASSESSMENT
”I’m honored to receive the ISSCR Poster Award. Huge thanks to Mo’s amazing lab at KAUST for their support—it’s been a great experience at the symposium.”

  • Weiqi Lyu, University of California, San Diego, Altos Labs, USA.
Abstract: INFERRING TRANSCRIPTION FACTORS DRIVING CELL FATE DECISIONS IN EARLY-STAGE HUMAN DEVELOPMENT USING TERATOMA AS A MODEL
”Understanding cells has always intrigued me from the start. At the ISSCR AI and Digital Biology Symposium, we learned how to decode and translate the complex languages underlying cell states with AI, an inspiring vision we share as a community.”

  • Janice Reid, QIMR Berghofer, Australia.
Abstract: DEVELOPING CARDIAC-SPECIFIC PERTUBATION DATASETS FOR ML/AI-GUIDED CARDIAC DRUG DISCOVERY
”This conference was great exposure to see the implementation of AI in stem cell culture QC through to the potential of quantum computing in biology. The pace and scope of innovation at the AI-biology interface is incredible.“

  • Yinghan Wu, Massachusetts General Hospital, Harvard Medical School, Boston University, USA.
Abstract: DIGITAL RECONSTRUCTION OF 3D SPATIAL TISSUE ARCHITECTURE REVEALS CELLULAR NICHE REWIRING IN SKIN DISEASE
”It was a joy to share my work at ISSCR 2025 in Seattle and meet so many brilliant people. I am deeply grateful for the guidance and support of my advisors, Dr. Kun Zhang and Dr. Prashant Mali and for everyone who helped to make this wonderful event possible.”
